Shopping in a Pandemic- Photo Essay

Since March 2020, across the country American consumers have had to reconstruct the way they think about shopping and buying products. Over the course of the pandemic, shopping behaviors have changed in many ways. I think a part of our national identity is consumerism and shopping. Americans love to get everything, all the time, and shopping has been considered a national pastime for almost our nation’s entire history. Despite the dangers of a pandemic, American’s have found ways to do their favorite activity. In the era of COVID-19 this looks a lot different.

I love fashion and style. Going out to shop is always very much an experience to me. I enjoy seeing other people’s style and what they pick up or find interesting. This inspires me to compare and contrast their ideas with my own identity. I wanted to focus on the way people still maintained to enjoy themselves while out shopping. The fun and joy of shopping is still alive in the pandemic.

Emphasizing the jarring changes that we experience while shopping in a pandemic. The mandatory safety precautions changes the way shopping looks and feels. You can’t ignore it, but it’s not something that deters many people.
